Explore two modules: 1) DIY adaptations, creative activities, and a systematic method of improving children’s writing abilities and 2) practical apps to improve your client’s ability to read, type, and write.
This practical, activity-focused course is packed with inexpensive DIY (do it yourself) methods and creative activities to improve your client’s handwriting. You will work through a systematic method to target the origin of handwriting difficulties. Participants are provided with numerous activities to target areas of difficulties for varying levels of students. The second part of the course provides information on assistive technology, new apps, chrome extensions, and other alternative methods to help your children read, write, and type.
Objectives
Kim Wiggins, OTR/L is an experienced occupational therapist specializing in pediatrics who has worked extensively in public school settings, outpatient, and home-based services to children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses and special needs. Kim is currently a full time therapist at the Binghamton City School District and the owner of KimWigginsOT, which primarily focuses on increasing the attention level and motor skills of children and providing educational opportunities for parents and professionals. She is an experienced National program developer who has produced and presented training workshops and seminars on a variety of topics related to handwriting, vision, primitive reflexes, sensory techniques, and technology to therapists, teachers, administrators, and parents, She has presented to audiences nationwide since 2010. Ms. Wiggins provides clients with both a clinical and parental perspective as she is the adoptive parent to a teenage son with special needs and 3 biological children (including TWINS!!!).

Ms. Wiggins received her Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, a member of the NYS OT Association (NYSOTA). She is also a past president of the Junior League of Binghamton, New York, and a past NYSOTA Pediatric Special Interest Coordinator.
