Susan Cecere is the owner of Sequoia School Based Therapy Solutions, LLC a consulting company that supports districts, agencies and therapists in the practice of school-based therapy services by providing mentoring, professional development and administrative support. Sue’s career has spanned 25 years in the school based and early intervention practice settings both as a service provider and program administrator. Prior to that, she worked in a variety of settings, including acute care, outpatient rehabilitation, and home health care. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, a master’s degree in health science from Towson University, and a graduate certificate in educational leadership from McDaniel College. Cecere is an experienced speaker on school practices and its administrative considerations. She is a former physical therapy chair of the Maryland State Department of Education Steering Committee for Occupational and Physical Therapy School-Based Programs, and coauthor of the Maryland State Guide to Early Intervention and School-based Practices. She is an active member of APTA’s Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy, where she has co-authored several fact sheets on school practice issues and served as its vice president for 8 years. She has been a member of the APTA Media Corps for several years. In 2012, she received the Susan K. Effgen Award for her advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels in support of pediatrics.

Jan Hollenbeck, OTD, OTR, FAOTA, is a Special Education Administrator responsible for related services, secondary transition services, assistive technology, and Section 504 for the Medford Public School District in Massachusetts. She received her BS and Doctoral degrees in occupational therapy from Tufts University - Boston School of Occupational Therapy and her MS degree from Boston University with a specialty in pediatrics. She is co-owner of PASS - The Partnership for Advancement of School Service-Providers, LLC, providing professional development, consultation, and staff training in areas that inform and empower related service providers teachers, families and others to support and facilitate the success of children in educational settings. Dr. Hollenbeck has presented extensively at state and national levels on the role of the related service provider in the public schools and through PASS, LLC is an approved provider of professional development for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She has authored several chapters and articles on the role of OT in public schools and is currently co-editing a pediatric textbook for OTAs. She is the MAOT Liaison to the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the first author of the Guidelines for Provision of Occupational Therapy Services in Massachusetts Public Schools. Dr. Hollenbeck is currently Co-Facilitator of the AOTA State Leaders in School Practice CoP and served a 3-year term on the AOTA Early Intervention and Schools Special Interest Section Committee.
Joanne Szabo PT, DPT, MHA, PCS has practiced in the field for over 35 years and is a board-certified pediatric specialist. Dr. Szabo has worked in the NICU, early intervention, acute care and school-based services. For the past 11 years she has worked full-time at the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind. Dr. Szabo speaks internationally on topics related to working with infants and children with multiple disabilities who are visually impaired or blind. She received the American Physical Therapy Association, Academy of Pediatric Therapy Knowledge Translation Lectureship Award in 2018. Dr. Szabo currently serves on the APTA’s School-based Special Interest Group Subcommittee, Children with Medical Complexity. In the past, Dr. Szabo has also served on the board of The Arizona Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She is enthusiastic to share her years of experience working with students with visual impairments.
Dr. Barbara Connolly received her BS degree in physical therapy from the University of Florida; a DPT degree from the University of Tennessee; a M,Ed. degree in special education with a minor in speech pathology and an EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Memphis. She is Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center where she served as Chair of the Physical Therapy Department for 24 years and Interim Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences for 2 years. She was a Trustee for the Foundation for Physical Therapy , a foundation dedicated to funding physical therapy research and served as President of the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research from January 2015 – December 2016. She served as President of the International Organization of Physical Therapists in Pediatrics, a subgroup of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy from it’s inception in 2007 until 2015. She also has served on the APTA Board of Directors, on the APTA Pediatric Specialty Council and the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. She was President of the Section on Pediatrics of the APTA from 2002 - 2006. She received the Bud DeHaven Leadership Award, the Research Award and the Jeanne Fischer Distinguished Mentorship Award from the Section on Pediatrics. She is a recipient of the Golden Pen Award from the American Physical Therapy Association for her publications. In 2002, she received one of the highest honors from the APTA when she was named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow. In 2014, she received the Marilyn Moffat Leadership Award and in 2015, she received a Lucy Blair Service Award. She is the first author of more than 32 publications in peer reviewed journals, has written 21 book chapters and has coauthored or edited seven textbooks for physical therapists. In February 2020, the 4th Edition of her textbook, Therapeutic Exercises in the Developmental Disabilities was published. She is certified in NDT and in SI. She continues to provide professional development courses both nationally and internationally.
Tim Richmond earned his degree in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University. Upon completion, he worked in Massachusetts and throughout the country in both public and private education settings. Tim joined Cotting School in 2006 as an Occupational Therapist, helping students find new and innovative ways to access learning. In 2015 Tim joined the Cotting Consulting team and provided Assistive Technology expertise to students in their home districts across the state. Tim was quickly named as the Outreach Coordinator for Cotting Consulting where he corresponded with districts to provide comprehensive support for a wide spectrum of students. Most recently he was named as the new Director of Cotting Consulting. Dr. Melissa K. Gerber, OTD, OTR/L is a seasoned and respected clinician with extensive experience in pediatrics. She began her career in Adult/Pediatric inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation and acute care. Currently, she has been working for the Great Neck Public Schools for the past 21 years. She is president of 4MYKIDSOT, a private practice where she provides therapy and evaluations.
