Sara Harvey, MS, PT graduated from Boston University with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. She participated in a DOE Program at the Shriver Center designed to support the work of therapists in school systems. After graduation she worked in Acute Care, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and helped develop a Lymphedema Care program for a large New England hospital. After moving to the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts Sara explored Sub-Acute Care Administration, Admissions and Marketing, before returning to her passion, School-Based Physical Therapy. In the Northampton School System, Sara works with all school staff and students from Preschool through High School and helps support her students though their transition to adult programs. She has received her Districts' Special Education Parent Advisory Council Annual Award for her contribution to student success in the school system.
John Pagano, Ph.D., OTR/L presents workshops internationally for educators, allied health therapists, and mental health practitioners on improving self-regulation in youth with complex behavioral, developmental, cognitive, and sensory processing challenges. He has over 30 years experience as a pediatric occupational therapist working in NICU, birth-to-three, sensory integration clinic, pre-school,school, group home, and adolescent psychiatric hospital settings. Dr. Pagano is known for his humorous, interactive workshops teaching extensive practical interventions for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum and other complex behavioral and developmental challenges.
Dr. Pagano holds a B. S. degree in Occupational Therapy,M. S. in Special Education, and Ph.D. in Human Development & Family Therapy. He is certified in Occupational Therapy, Neuro-Developmental (Bobath) Treatment,QST Sensory Treatment for Autism, as well as an Instructor of Movement Based Learning and Positive Behavioral Support. Dr. Pagano conducts clinical research and maintains a full time clinical occupational therapy practice specializing in children and adolescents with complex behavioral, Autism Spectrum, cognitive,and other developmental challenges. He is a member of the AOTA School Mental Health Working Group and publishes extensively on the practical clinical applications of transdisciplinary research. Maureen McCabe is presently a PT, DPT at the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson, NY. She has previously worked in a variety of pediatric settings, including the Hospital for Special Surgery, Early Intervention, and her own private practice. Additionally, she is a course instructor at the Columbia University physical therapy program, as well as a PT consultant to both OIF (Osteogenisis Imperfecta Foundation) and AHUCE (the Spanish OI Association). She received her BS in physical therapy from Boston University and DPT from SUNY Stony Brook.
Christopher Marotta is an Occupational Therapist currently working at the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson, NY. He has gained a wealth of experience throughout his career, working in many pediatric and adult settings, including St. Charles Hospital. However, Christopher's passion is assistive technology. He enjoys the challenge of problem solving, making adaptations and creating modifications to enable independent
access to support participation in functional performance contexts across the lifespan. He shares this knowledge and experience when he teaches.
Christopher is an adjunct professor for courses on the topic of assistive technology at SUNY Stony Brook and Touro College. He earned his B.S.in Occupational Therapy and Health Sciences from SUNY Stony Brook in 2002 and returned to complete his M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University in 2012.
Dr. Melissa K. Gerber, OTD, OTR/L is a seasoned and respected clinician with extensive experience in pediatrics. She began her career in Adult/Pediatric inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation and acute care. Currently, she has been working for the Great Neck Public Schools for the past 21 years. She is president of 4MYKIDSOT, a private practice where she provides therapy and evaluations.
Dr. Gerber has presented at Education Resources, Therapies in the Schools on Visual Processing: Treat, Remediate, Refer. She has presented at Therapies in the schools in 2016 as the keynote speaker and presented on Aligning Motor needs with Educational Goals. She is enthusiastic to share her experiences and provide strategies that can be incorporated immediately. She is also affiliated with Puzzle Art Therapy, and enjoys sharing this program.
