It will arm you with best practices for treating patients with multiple co-morbidities to maximize their functional outcomes. Topics covered will include integrating medical record review, lab values, imaging, medications, physician and surgeon consult notes, nurse-therapist communication, as well as social worker/case manager discharge planning into your treatment plan. Commonly used tests & measures such as 30-sec sit to stand, 5 rep sit-to-stand, FIST, TUG, Berg, DGI, FGA, 6MWT, and others will be practiced during breakout lab sessions. Much attention will be placed upon discussion about the expanding role of “PT/OT” throughout the two days as lab breakouts sessions and classroom-style discussion occur while the instructor presents case scenarios and working through evaluation and treatment plans. Specific to this course, the instructor allocates a 1-2 hour dedicated block of time where attendees will be allowed to lead his/her own case discussion. The information learned from this course can be taken back and implemented on Monday mornings. Content is clinically relevant to several settings including as Acute, Subacute, SNF, Home Health, and Outpatient.
