COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learn hands-on advanced evaluation and treatment of the foot and ankle to improve gait and function for patients with pediatric, neurologic, and orthopedic health conditions. Practice an organized system to evaluate ankle function using a kinesiopathologic approach, determining key findings to develop a clinical hypothesis. Multiple labs will include the latest evidence-based interventions to improve foot and ankle function for individuals across the movement spectrum, including joint and soft tissue mobilizations, improving strength and motor control of the “foot core”, and addressing pain. Participants will also learn hands-on skills for orthotic design as well as foot/ankle taping techniques.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Analyze foot and ankle exam findings including gait kinematics, neuromotor function, and musculoskeletal findings to design individualized treatment plans
- Apply advanced manual mobilization skills to joint and soft tissues to improve foot and ankle mobility and function
- Design a progressive strengthening program to improve motor control of the foot and ankle.
- Design a comprehensive orthotic plan to improve function and gait for patients with identified foot/ankle dysfunction
- Take molds for orthoses to support a structural and functional foot impairment
AUDIENCE:
This course is for those who have taken Ambulation, Activity, and AFOs: Addressing the Ankle to Improve Gait and Function, online or in-person OR with other prior experience or training for foot/ankle and ankle-foot-orthotics.
IMPORTANT COURSE INFO:
The instructor will be providing materials taking molds for orthoses for each participant, which is included in the $475 price of the course. Participants should bring a Theraband for the course.

As an experienced PT I enjoyed this course immensely! Amanda is an engaging speaker and has many "Amanda-isms" that cement key ideas. Remarkably, she is nimble and tailors the course to the audience in front of her. In this course she reminds you of the importance of the often overlooked foot and ankle and provides examination and intervention based on research and her experience. I highly recommend this course for anyone interested in improving gait and mobility in a variety of conditions. -Barbara P., PT
Amanda is an engaging speaker and holds your attention well. She is knowledgeable in many areas important to therapists. She has a talent for integrating many relevant areas to include in intervention and facility for sharing the complex clinical decision making needed to improve outcomes. As an experienced therapist I found this course very worthwhile! -AJ, PT
Amanda was a great teacher and created a comfortable environment for learning! -Roni O., PT
