Current research and case examples will be utilized throughout. This course is applicable however to a large patient population of those who are or have been critically ill in their course.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of a multi-professional approach with complex patients in the ICU and identify early predictors and indicators to assist the medical team in determining a patient’s projected course.
- Perform treatments for the critically ill beyond mobility and exercise prescription and create a plan for timing of treatment to illicit maximal function with patients who are medically complex.
- Utilize outcome measures and an evidence based approach to guide treatment and problem solving through patient cases.
- Justify their own “gut instincts” regarding projecting a patient course and how to assist the multi-professional team in higher level clinical decision making.
