“Jeff Walter was a great instructor. He kept our group engaged and gave us tools to recognize differential diagnoses involving the vestibular system. I would highly recommend this course/instructor to fellow clinicians to take your knowledge of vestibular rehabilitation to the next level.” – Rachel H.
Welcome back to faculty member, Jeff Walter, PT, who will be presenting in-person in White Plains, NY on March 21 and 22 on the topic of Vestibular Rehabilitation. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training and face-to-face instruction from a leading vestibular expert.
How Do Vestibular Disorders Impact My Patients?
Complaints of dizziness and balance problems are commonly seen in referrals for both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. Adults of all ages may experience sensations of spinning, loss of balance, dizziness, visual abnormalities, and other less clear descriptions of sensations that feel off or bothersome to the patient. It requires a thorough and precise evaluation to accurately determine the underlying cause of these symptoms and then to treat accordingly.
In gathering the past medical history, specific conditions can alert the evaluating PT or OT to consider vestibular disorders. These include, but are not limited to, Meniere’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral vascular accident (CVA), Chiari Malformation, Cerebellar Degenerative Disorders, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). The clinical assessment encompasses several components for vestibular, visual and balance examinations. This can be completed at the bedside for patients receiving inpatient care or in outpatient and home care settings.
What Will I Take Away From This Course?
Jeff Walter’s upcoming 2-day course will equip therapists with the knowledge and clinical application skills to effectively manage vestibular rehabilitation referrals from evaluation through treatment. In addition to presenting material in an engaging lecture format, Jeff will facilitate practical labs and video case study analysis to build participants’ competence.
