Thankful for a Successful Therapies in the School Conference 2019

Our annual Therapies in the Schools conference took place last week, bringing together more than 250 school-based therapists, inspiring speakers, and resourceful vendors.  We left with a greater understanding of how to identify and treat children experiencing numerous conditions, as well as how to support one another both inside and outside the classroom.

The two-day conference featured speakers including Athena Oden, PT of “Ready Bodies Learning Minds,” and Emily Zeman, OTD, MS, OTR/L who spoke about trauma-informed care.

ERI Co-founder Barabra Offringa (L) with speaker Athena Oden (R), who presented “Ready Bodies Learning Minds”.

Vendors including showcased items of interest and lunchtime break out sessions were a great opportunity to share experiences and interact with colleagues. We thought the conference was one of the best, but don’t take our word for it. Here’s what attendees are saying:

“Conference material was so on point and easily applicable to school-based therapy. I felt like crying tears of joy.  Finally, material I can use on Monday!”

 – S. Gouk, PT

“Excellent content, meaningful and insightful. Practical strategies I can’t wait to implement.”

 – Conference Attendee

ERI also recognized several outstanding therapists at the conference – Katelyn Cyr, DPT, received the Emerging Leader New to School-Based Practice award, and Tammy Dale, OT, OTR/L received the Excellence in Creative School-Based Therapy award.

Tammy Dale, OT, OTR/L was awarded the Excellence in Creative School-Based Therapy Award at the 2019 Therapies in the Schools Conference.

Katelyn Cyr, DPT, was recognized as this year’s Emerging Leader New to School-based Practice and awarded a scholarship to Therapies in the Schools.

We are grateful for everyone who attended the conference, and confident the techniques and strategies shared by our speakers will help bring practices to the next level.

And it’s not too early to start thinking about next year’s conference. Tell us what topics you’d like to explore at Therapies in the School 2020!
