ERI and Kelly Mahler Bring “Interoception, the Eighth Sense” to the East Coast

Kelly Mahler, MS, OTR/L, who presented the keynote speech to a packed room at the 2019 Therapies in the School Conference, is teaming up with ERI to offer her engaging course “Interoception, the Eighth Sense: Practical Solutions for Promoting Self-Regulation, Positive Behavior, Language Development and Social Participation.” Kelly’s course received high-praise from therapists and we’re pleased to offer her course in New Jersey on December 3-4, and in Baltimore, MD in February 2020.

The course will teach participants how to increase the effectiveness of their treatments and help improve clients’ functioning in self-regulation, language development, positive behavior, and social participation. Kelly will also highlight key strategies from her book “The Interoception Curriculum,” a step-by-step framework for improving interoception. She will teach participants how to adapt strategies to effectively meet a variety of client needs and improve client outcomes. All the strategies presented in this course will be effective for use in many different settings including home, schools, community and clinic.

child smilingJoin ERI and Debra Dickson for “Integrated Pediatric Assessment and Evidence-Based Treatment:  4 Day Intensive Focusing on Children with Sensory and Motor Challenges” in Houston, October 24-27, 2019.  This highly informative, hands-on course will provide you with concrete tools and strategies to effectively conduct in-depth physical and sensory/motor function assessments and design effective interventions for clients with varying degrees of involvement. The 4-day class benefits the intermediate to advanced clinician who is looking to improve and incorporate skills into a comprehensive and organized assessment and treatment strategy, integrating NDT, SI, reflex integration, myofascial release, cranial sacral therapy, and the visual-vestibular-auditory triad. These effective treatment strategies extend to improving self-regulation, visual motor skills, attention, social interaction, picky eaters, sleep disorders, and sensory motor skills utilizing a “trauma informed” approach. 

Debra will teach participants to design effective treatment plans in multiple settings including clinics, schools, and home programs. Held at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, this course meets the criteria for 25.5 CEUS and is approved by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
